Yet this was his second physical in a single year, with no detailed medical summary released, and no imaging report made public. As critics, comedians, and foreign social media accounts mock the mystery MRI, one reality remains: in an election season defined by questions of age and fitness, the most powerful man in the country is asking voters to trust results he says are perfect – but won’t fully expla.

“Mr. President, could you tell us why you needed to get an MRI? I understand that the results were good but what was it for?” a reporter asked Trump aboard Air Force One.
“Because it’s part of my physical. Getting an MRI is very standard,” claimed Trump. “What do you think I shouldn’t have it? Other people get it.”
In reality, an MRI scan is a nonstandard procedure. Doctors normally order them only when there are red flags indicating a serious underlying condition, for example dementia.
“No, but typically an MRI is for a specific part of your body,” the reporter pressed.
“I had an MRI. Here’s what the story is,” Trump said. “I had an MRI. The doctor said it was the best result he has ever seen as a doctor. That’s it. But I had an MRI as part of my standard yearly, or every— I think they do it every two years, but I have the physical every year. And the result was outstanding.”
An MRI scan by definition cannot be the “best” ever performed. Either it shows evidence of health problems or it does not. As usual, Trump’s desperate need to lather himself in superlatives just ended up making him sound stupid.
“Is it your brain or your heart?” the reporter asked.
“I have no idea what they analyzed, but whatever they analyzed, they analyzed it well, and they said that I had as good a result as they’ve ever seen,” said Trump. “Now, the other thing I took is I took, as you know, an advanced, very advanced test on mental acuity, because I think a president should have to do that.”
Either Trump is lying here or his cognitive decline is so advanced that he genuinely can’t remember why he was loaded into a noisy MRI machine and scanned. There is absolutely no world in which Trump underwent such a scan — which can last from 20 minutes to 2 hours — without being informed as to why it was necessary.
The likeliest explanation here is that Trump’s doctors were worried about his memory lapses, rambling tangents, and general mental fog. Since we know that he’s not telling the truth about why he was scanned, we shouldn’t simply believe him when he says that the scan came back healthy. Evidence points to dementia.
