Trump Drops Truth Bomb About Jan. 6 That We All Suspected Was True

President Donald Trump has pardoned defendants convicted in connection with the January 6 Capitol riot and renewed scrutiny over the FBI’s use of informants during the event.

Trump made the statements while discussing the 2021 Capitol breach and those prosecuted in connection with it. He claimed the defendants faced excessive sentences and referenced federal law enforcement involvement in the events of that day.

Trump’s Pardon Announcement

“Just so you understand, these are people that have been decimated,” Trump said of January 6 defendants, noting that many “were supposed to serve five years, 10 years in jail.” He stated he granted pardons to those involved and suggested they should receive financial reimbursement.

Trump also cast doubt on the circumstances surrounding the Capitol breach. “The FBI said, ‘go in, go in, police, go in, go into the van,'” he claimed, suggesting federal agents directed protesters toward the building.

The Informant Question

An FBI inspection revealed approximately 26 confidential human sources were present among protesters at the Capitol on January 6, according to previously released reports. These informants were embedded to gather intelligence on potential criminal activity.

Questions have persisted about whether some informants acted as agitators rather than passive observers. Video has surfaced showing individuals encouraging crowds to push into the building, though the Department of Justice’s Inspector General stated informants did not promote illegal activities.

Four of the informants entered the Capitol building without authorization, according to official reports. The Inspector General’s office clarified the distinction between confidential human sources and undercover FBI agents in its findings.

Ongoing Debate

The role of FBI informants on January 6 remains contested in public discourse. Some have questioned whether federal agents’ presence influenced the crowd’s actions, while officials have maintained informants operated within proper boundaries.
